Dave Feather, a seasoned sports executive with an unwavering passion for hockey, serves as the Executive Vice President of the Knoxville Ice Bears. With a deep-rooted connection to the team and extensive experience in the sports industry, Dave plays a pivotal role in steering the Ice Bears toward continued success on and off the ice.
Born and raised in a military family, Dave’s love for sports was evident from an early age. He excelled in various athletic pursuits, including ice hockey, baseball, and football. Despite not pursuing a professional sports career, his competitive spirit and dedication laid the foundation for his future role in the sports business realm.
After spending four years of active duty in the US Air Force, Dave pursued a degree in Sports Management at the University of Tennessee, recognizing the need to merge his passion for sports with his
entrepreneurial aspirations. During his academic journey, he completed internships at UT Ice Hockey Club, Knoxville Speed of the UHL, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dave gained valuable experience with sports organizations, developing an acute understanding of the industry’s intricacies. He furthered his education by earning his MBA at the University of Tennessee in 2003.
Dave’s career trajectory skyrocketed as he climbed the ranks in the sports business world. His tenacity, strategic vision, and ability to build strong stakeholder relationships propelled him into leadership positions within various sports organizations, leading him to be Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Knoxville Ice Bears from 2003-2005. In the summer of 2005, Dave took the role of Sales Director for the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL. His work ethic and leadership qualities did not go unnoticed, and he was recruited back to Knoxville in 2007 after serving as the Ticket Sales Director of the Reading Royals of the ECHL, the coveted role of Executive Vice President with the Knoxville Ice Bears.
As the Executive Vice President, Dave Feather is at the helm of the Ice Bears organization, overseeing its day-to-day operations and working closely with the ownership group. His responsibilities include business development, marketing, sales, financial management, and community engagement.
Under Dave’s leadership, the Ice Bears have witnessed significant growth in revenue streams and fan engagement. He has been instrumental in identifying new opportunities for expanding the team’s brand and presence, both locally and regionally. The Ice Bears have solidified their position as a leading sports franchise in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) through innovative partnerships and strategic alliances.

Dave lives in West Knoxville with his wife Amy, two children, Brody and Reagan, and rescue lab, Bauer, and two rescue cats, Silver and Bella.
